“I really think it has given them that extra confidence”

As you may know, the team behind Smartick wants your children to be math stars. Let us explain. Our idea of star envokes confidence and hold the necessary mathematical skills and reliance to avoid adversity to the subject. We don’t assume children will win math Olympiads, but we do expect them to have a solid grasp of the math foundations. They don’t necessarily have to love math, but we want to provide them with the right tools from the beginning, so they are prepared to work through the challenging problems presented not only in math class but in life.

To reach this point, parents need to trust and have confidence in the program. We understand that this is not always easy, considering the basic structure of Smartick. The exercises children work on depend on their individual performance and learning pace. Parents and even the Smartick Pedagogical Team do not have 100% control over the sessions. This idea can be challenging and slightly confusing for some families to wrap their head around.

Why Trust in Smartick

Why can’t children choose the content they will work on, whereas in other programs like IXL, they have complete control. However, this idea defies the Smartick methodology. An article by researchED discussing education, perfectly underscores why, “Allowing kids to browse the internet in a lesson and then expecting they will work productively is like bringing them to McDonald’s and hoping they’ll order the salad”. Our sophisticated AI allows us to analyze and adapt to each child’s strengths and weaknesses, and propose the necessary exercises in real time, providing a personalized approach that is rare in many learning spaces.

Colleen Rood, a mom of 2 Smartick children and middle school teacher, appreciates exactly this aspect of the program. In a Smartick interview, she highlights,

“I don’t have to look for all of the exercises and decide. It’s already in the program. That’s what I was looking for, daily, short, varied questions appropriate for their level.”
