In 2015, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Smartick formed a partnership in order to accelerate our expansion into the North American market.
The Global Internship Lab (G-Lab) selected our start-up to accelerate internationalization. Students and professors from one of the best MBA programs worldwide worked with us for four months to identify the challenges of our expansion to the US with our innovative online method of learning math for children from 4 to 14 years old.
Having been chosen by the European Commission as one of the thirty most innovative projects in Europe, this partnership with MIT provides strategic advice, allows us to better understand the scenarios that we will meet going forward, and provides us with a large network of key contacts during our internationalization. For our co-founder Daniel González de Vega, Smartick has always had an international role – as demonstrated by the fact that it is present in 42 countries – and finalizing the English version is a response to growing demand.
This association with MIT ended a year in which Smartick was rewarded for its work with a large increase of students and schools, as well as through initiatives such as Endeavor, which chose González de Vega as one of its entrepreneurs at the summit in Santiago, Chile.
Meanwhile, the other co-founder of Smartick, Javier Arroyo, stated how rewarding it is to receive messages from parents and tutors “Thanking us for the work we do in order to help their children understand mathematics. In an increasingly technological world, our hope is that children lose their fear and instead master math, which is increasingly vital for many areas of life and therefore essential to make a better world.”
